Tour de France is coming up June 26th, and that means that Spin de Fleece is also coming up!

Spin de Fleece is an event on Fiberkind.com that follows the same dates as the Tour de France.  When they are 'spinning' we try to spin too!

Please come check it out.

Day 10 - Tour de Fleece / Spin de Fleece Update

So I haven't been able to spin every day, but I have finished my first bag of fiber!   Here is the plied yarn still on the bobbin.  I will let it rest before skeining and measuring it.

Tour de Fleece 2020 - Day 3

I decided to participate in Tour de Fleece 2020 and thought I am only starting now on Day 3, I did dust off my wheel and have done some spinning...

This is the fiber I used.

And here is what I ended up with for my spin.

I think it turned out pretty good. My hands seemed to remember what to do !

Spinning - I learned!

Well, I learned how to spin on a drop spindle.  Here are two small skeins that I finished today.

Here's pictures of them before they were soaked and set...

Here is a picture of the finished "skeins".  Look nice?

The blue/cream one is 8 yards and is two different fibers plied together - the blue is silk, wool, & mohair, and the cream of this skein is wool/silk.  Both of these fibers I received in a drop spindle class that I took last weekend in Madison from the Madison Knitters Guild. This is close to a worsted weight I think.

The all white skein (off-white?) is 25ish yards and is a corriedale fiber (wool) that I purchased at Bahr Creek Llama & fiber shop in Cedar Grove, WI.  It turned out a bit lumpier and more "homespun" that I wanted, but, hey .. it's my first skeins! Definitely a heavy worsted or chunky weight yarn.

Here is a closeup.
