More of L O V E

Still reading Karen Kingsbury.

I just finished "Remember".  In the last pages was a note from Karen and I want to share a short excerpt

"... that you gain a deeper understanding of what L-O-V-E really means. (Listen, Offer yourself, Value and honor, and Embrace.)"

Just something to think about as you go about your daily lives . . .

Love Is...

I've been reading Karen Kingsbury books, and more specifically "Redemption" which starts the series on the Baxter Family.  I just finished a section where one of the characters realizes what Love is and what love is not .. and comes to the conclusion that He needed to be Selfless and less self serving.  Less "wait until I finish ... and then I'll love and be with you .. " and more "Let me love you right now the way you need me to love you, even if that means I don't get to be with you."

So as a reminder to all of us .. here is what Love Is ...

1 Corinthians 13 (NIV)

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

March Photos Catch-Up

Sorry I've been so lax.  Here is a series of pictures I meant to share in March.

Above is 2/5 of the Three Cords celtic knot quilt I've been working on. :)  It's looking really good in the photos I think.  Below you will find other blocks that I finished in March.

I saw the very first Cardinal in our yard as well.  I didn't see his mate, but she was proably around somewhere.

And of course the ever present House Finches

Some more pictures of the Cardinal.

I looked out one day and here was an interesting sight.  Two rabbits that live in our yard eating under the birdfeeder with a mourning dove and a grackle.  Nice they can get along! :)

My ds2 and Peaches. He took this picture himself.  I think he did a good job.

The following picture I'm goign to add a caption to ... "For me?"

We drove the Marina in Port Washington and saw this Merganser couple.  If I remember right, there was another pair as well, but they were too far out and I couldn't get a picture of them.  This is a 'first' sighting for me, I think.

The gulls were fighting over fish... typical!

Even though gulls can be sort of a nuisance, I still think they are magnifiicent creations ..

A beautiful Robin, celebrating spring. :)

This is the first time I have seen a woodpecker eat thistle seed.  In IA they always went after the suet.  Here I have this feeder with thistle seed in it, and this female Hairy (i think) woodpecker seem to enjoy it.

And I'll leave you with another picture of the woodpecker, accompanied by a house finch.

Today, on Good Friday, I planted.

I've heard it was good to plant potatoes on Good Friday.  So I did that. I planted two more approximately 4 ft rows in the garden, without a tunnel this time.  I also went ahead and planted some summer squash. Three hills of that.  We'll see if they get froze out or not.

The things I planted under the tunnel a month ago (or was it just a few weeks ago?) are doing ok.  The potatoes have a few real leaves on them, the radish is up (I thinned that a little today) and the peas are up.  I even saw a marigold seedling or two.

Other planting I did was to plant some seed disks that we received from my SIL Sonja.  I put these in a big round pot that we purchased for our front porch area.  I also threw on some other seeds, I think marigold and morning glory.

We also purchased a couple of smaller square planters for the back patio.  I had enough dirt to fill two and a half of them.  I planted these with seeds as well, using up old seed.  Nicotiana, Marigold, Petunia, Daisy Garden" to name a few.  We'll see if they sprout! lol.  Figured I should use what I have instead of just buying annuals at a store.

I ALSO started some seeds downstairs on my light stand.  I am actually kind of late for that, but I did it anyway.  I planted tomatoes and green peppers.  Again I used up my oldest seed, and I still have plenty of seed left!  I planted rosemary, dill, basil, and ? .. can't remember for sure.  The zinnia I started in the greenhouse that Joel gave me got put in a slightly bigger pot.  And the basil I had started just before New Year's I also potted up into larger pots.  My fingers are still dirty, probably should go wash them! lol.

So I did a lot of planting today .. What did you do for Good Friday?
