Bristol's Book - Not Afraid of Life

I finished Bristol Palin's book the other day.  "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far"

I was very pleased that I was able to read it.  I recommend it to anyone who would like to know more about the Palin's, and the Bristol situation a few years back in particular.  It was well written, almost like she was sitting in front of me and telling me her story.

I also found recently that she has a blog through patheos...  I'm now subscribed. Can't wait to see how she does on the new season of DWTS. :)

Still Reading . . .

Well the last few days / week / have been filled with a few things.  My father-in-law came to visit from New York, and then overlapping with that visit was a visit from my parents (from Iowa).  Both visits were very good.  I enjoyed talking with them, and listening to them talk to dh.

I was able to sit and knit with my mom.  It's always a good thing to do, and probably one of my favorite things to do with my mom.  I have completed 2 more scarves for the Special Olympics project, and will share those pics in another post.

I've been reading lots as well.  I finished Blue Eyed Devil by Robert B Parker.

For the McKettrick series by Linda Lael Miller, I've read McKettrick's Choice, Sierra's Homecoming, McKettrick's Luck, McKettrick's Pride, McKettrick's Heart.  In McKettrick's Heart, they introduce Logan Creed, who is part of her Montana Creeds Series, which is a distant relation to the McKettrick's.  Of course, they introduce him in the last paragraph in the book! lol.  So now I have three more books in the McKettricks of Texas series, two of which are due on Monday at the library, so I need to finish reading them before I can go into the Monta Creeds Series. I also have a coupleof unrelated books by Linda Lael Miller as well as one or two that are by different authors.  So lots of reading in my future.

Here's the list of the McKettrick's Series.
(I've read all those in purple.)

• McKettricks of Texas: Austin 2010
• McKettricks of Texas: Garrett 2010
• McKettricks of Texas: Tate 2010 (started reading today)
• A McKettrick Christmas 2008
• The McKettrick Way 2007
• McKettrick's Heart 2007
• McKettrick's Pride 2007
• McKettrick's Luck 2007
• Sierra's Homecoming 2006
• McKettrick's Choice 2006
• Secondhand Bride 2004
• Shotgun Bride 2003
• High Country Bride 2002

I'm really looking forward to learning more about this family, and the Creed family. :)

Have you ever had a series that you just couldn't stop reading?

Reading Reading Reading

So I checked out over 20 books I think .. can't remember.. several are redy to go back.  I suppose there were a few dvd's among that checkout list .. but only a few.

This weekend I've read "Resolution" and "Brimstone" in the Robert B Parker "Appalossa" series.  Good books.  A little dry .. very western .. but they are keeping me interested enough to finish the series .. I have started the last one "Blue Eyed Devil" ... should finish it tomorrow I would think.

As for the McKettrick series .. I read "A McKettrick Christmas" which was a story about one of the kids which appeared in one of the first three books.  Since the others in the series appear to be more decendants of the ppl in the first 3 books, I figured popping up to this one would make sense chronologically.

What have you read lately?

Linda Lael Miller Book Series

Have you ever got to reading a book series, and wanted to read the whole series, so you end up with 20 books on hold at the library?  No? .. Well, I admit it, I have 20+ books in my hold list at the library, and most of them are Linda Lael Miller books.

A friend of mine got me started on the McKettricks series.  The books are:

McKettrick Series (reverse order - start at the bottom chronologically)

 • McKettricks of Texas: Austin 2010
• McKettricks of Texas: Garrett 2010
• McKettricks of Texas: Tate 2010
• A McKettrick Christmas 2008
• The McKettrick Way 2007
• McKettrick's Heart 2007
• McKettrick's Pride 2007
• McKettrick's Luck 2007
• Sierra's Homecoming 2006
• McKettrick's Choice 2006
• Secondhand Bride 2004
• Shotgun Bride 2003
• High Country Bride 2002

I've read High Country Bride, Shotgun Bride, and Secondhand Bride.  I have Sierra's Homecoming ready for me at the library and McKettick's Choice and many of the others in route to my library. (Our library system has like a dozen libraries which are connected and you request any book from any library to be brought to your nearest library for you to pick up.)

I also have some of the Creed series in my hold list.  As well as My Darling Melissa which is one of the first few books she wrote, which I believe is totally unrelated to either McKettrick or Creed series.

You can see all of her books listed here.

In the meantie, I'm also halfway through Brisingr of the Eragon series .. and I have the 2nd 3rd and 4th books of Robert B Parker's    Virgil Cole/Everett Hitch Series.  I enjoyed the book Apaloosa, but not so much the movie.  These three books are actually due in a week, so I really need to start reading if I'm going to finish them and move further into the McKettrick series.

So many books, so little time!

What's your favorite book at the  moment?

Videos Videos PO and more Videos

Well, today so far I've been doing a lot of video work, both personal and work related.

I started the day my usual way with taking a look at facebook while I ate breakfast and reading my email, and then I was going to capture the homeschool group's Share Fair video so that I could make dvds and deliver them this weekend.  I got sidetracked a little by work related video/training/cd burning .. but that didnt' take too long .. but I do still need to put in my time on the timesheet for that .. anyway ... after that I did get the video captured and I have the movie rendered .. now just need to render the dvd files, and burn a half dozen copies. Then I have to remember to bring them with me this weekend! :)

The boys and I dropped off the earnest money at the realtor, and then went to the PO and to the library.  Does anyone else end up taking more out of the library than they return to it? lol.  We had only a 1/4 bag full to return, but we have more than a bag full coming home!  The boys got some books, some Nintendo Power magazines, and graphic novels ..and I got a biography by Marie Osmond as well as some Taste of Home magazines and a Mary Mary cd .. and a couple of other books which I had placed on hold.
Not sure we'll get time to read all of what we got, but we love books, so I suppose we might.

I'm going to try to finish the Share Fair DVDs this afternoon yet, and then hopefully get a little sewing or knitting/crochet in tonight .. probably knitting, as I recently picked up a project that had been sitting .. it's sort of a shawl/cardigan ... Hopefully it will look better after it's blocked, as I'm not really liking it right now. :(

Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken

I just finished a marvelous book. :) It's "Brightly woven" from Alexandra Bracken.

Ms. Bracken has a blog.

Here is the cover of the book.

There are several reasons I like this book, but probably the most pressing is that it's about a girl who thinks she's ordinary, but then finds out she has a lot of power and ability. With that power comes the possibility for her to harm those she loves without meaning to, but also with that power comes the opportunity for her to help her loved ones.
